Lost shortcuts for "Administrative Tools"
Hi,I've installed Win Server 2008 (Entreprise, x64)recently and have done an annoying mistake when trying to organize my start menu; i noticed that "Administrative Tools" were both in the "Programs" part and in the "Control Panel" part of my start menu, so i decided to remove the folder that was in "Programs".I acted too fast, and only then did i notice that the entry in the "Control Panel" was only a shorcut pointing to that folder of programs i just removed! Hence now, when i try to reach admin tools from the control panel, i have the following message box:[Window Title]Location is not available [Content]C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Administrative Tools refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive on this computer, or on a network. Check to make sure that the disk is properly inserted, or that you are connected to the Internet or your network, and then try again. If it still cannot be located, the information might have been moved to a different location. [OK]So here i am, now, unable to access these administrative tools easily. Is there a way to get these shortcuts back?Alternatively, could any of you guys zip your "Start Menu\Programs\Administrative Tools" folder and post it somewhere (like on www.sendspace.org or here if it works)? I assume that should work, since it's only a set of shortcuts after all. Thanks,Zouzou

The Shortcuts you have in "Administrative Tools" will depend on which Roles and Features you have installed. The list on my Windows 2008 Server is: ActiveDirectoryDomainsandTrusts.lnk ActiveDirectorySitesandServices.lnk ActiveDirectoryUsersandComputers.lnk ADSIEdit.lnk CertificationAuthority.lnk ComponentServices.lnk ComputerManagement.lnk DataSources(ODBC).lnk desktop.ini DFSManagement.lnk DNS.LNK EventViewer.lnk FileServerResourceManager.lnk GroupPolicyManagement.lnk Hyper-VManager.lnk iSCSIInitiator.lnk MemoryDiagnosticsTool.lnk ocspresponder.lnk ReliabilityandPerformanceMonitor.lnk SecurityConfigurationManagement.lnk SecurityConfigurationWizard.lnk ServerManager.lnk ServicesForNetworkFileSystem.lnk services.lnk ShareandStorageManagement.lnk StorageExplorer.lnk SystemConfiguration.lnk TaskScheduler.lnk WindowsFirewallwithAdvancedSecurity.lnk WindowsServerBackup.lnk WindowsSystemResourceManager.lnk WINS.lnkMost, if not all, of these point to Microsoft Common Console files (*.msc) in %SystemRoot%\System32.Mine are: adsiedit.msc azman.msc certmgr.msc certsrv.msc certtmpl.msc comexp.msc compmgmt.msc devmgmt.msc dfsmgmt.msc diskmgmt.msc dnsmgmt.msc domain.msc dsa.msc dssite.msc eventvwr.msc fsmgmt.msc fsrm.msc gpedit.msc gpmc.msc gpme.msc gptedit.msc lusrmgr.msc NAPCLCFG.MSC nfsmgmt.msc ocsp.msc perfmon.msc pkiview.msc rsop.msc secpol.msc ServerManager.msc services.msc StorageMgmt.msc StorExpl.msc tapimgmt.msc taskschd.msc tpm.msc tsadmin.msc tsconfig.msc tsmmc.msc wbadmin.msc WF.msc winsmgmt.msc WmiMgmt.msc WSRM.mscMost of the associations are obvious or can be guessed. The rest can be found by opening them. You could just recreate the empty folder, select all the .msc files in explorer, right click the selected group and drag and drop them into the new folder, and select "create shortcuts". Rename the ones you can identify and open the ones you can't.
